Demarion Butler is now in jail, charged with the murder of 21-year-old Isaiah Barbee, Jr. He was arrested by the US Marshall’s Service on May 7th, 2025. The shooting happened on April 7 around 12:55 p.m. on Simpson Town Road in Newington. When deputies got to the scene, they found Barbee with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. The GBI and Screven County deputies are still investigating what led up to the shooting.
